I filled the spirals in the body tubes, using Elmer's Fill and Finish mixed with water, brushed on the spirals. Yes, it's a bunch of work--especially for the bottom part of the rocket. Yes, it means a bunch more handling of the wraps. Yes, it's worth it, and worth doing even a better job than I did: the final finish really looks much, much better.
